Ivan Magomu has made it to the list of the Uganda Rugby Cranes sevens and the fly half is set to make his debut for the side that traveled to Kenya for the Safari 7s on Thursday.

Magomu who had earlier expressed disappointment at missing out on the 15’s outfit that played the Africa Rugby Tier 1B will now rejoice at the opportunity to showcase his skills.

The Cranes sevens arrived in Nairobi aboard Kenya Airways for the tournament due Saturday and Sunday accompanied by experienced coaches Herbert Wafula and South African Bronson Weir.

Weir is a Cape Town based coach who flew into Uganda on Monday to aid in sharpening the sevens team ahead of November’s Olympics Qualifiers.

Alongside debutant Magomu, another is Paul Epillo. Center Micheal Wokorach will skipper the squad, Glasgow commonwealth star Emma Echodu and Charles Uhuru are also part of the side.

Uganda return to the showpiece having lost the shield cup final last year to Golden Lions 26-14. Cranes scored 100 points, conceding 114.

England Saxons, Spain, Brazil, Italy, debutants England sevens developement squad, Zimbabwe, Kenya Shujaa and Kenya Morans are the other sides seeking top spot.
