The 2015 Nile Special pool national championship draws were held at Rock Catalina on Thursday morning.

Overseeing the draws was the competitions director, Pool Association of Uganda (PAU), Robert ‘Pipo’ Kayanja.

He took the journalists, some of the players and PAU officials in attendance through the procedure of the draws, explaining how the top seeded players can only meet at the last quarter final stage.

The draws are free and fair because any player seeded or not has a fair chance to compete

Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumikiriza, rated number one by PAU will take on little known Andrew Aseka, who qualified from Mbarara playing center.

The reigning national champion, Fahad Ssewankambo is number 128 on the playing chart and will open up his title defence with David Nagabola who was the champion in Isingiro district.

Sula Matovu, another top seed will tackle Manisulu Bwanika. Navy Matovu opens up his defence with Soroti’s Samuel Echumu.

Black Sheep is optimistic of a great performance come the D-Day;

I am in intensive training for the championship. I respect all the players and that is why every game means a lot to me

Simon ‘The Computer’ Lubulwa will play Cyrus Acir, the Lira district champion in the opening round

Seed three, Amos Ndyagumanawe anticipates great competition but he openly utters his overwhelming confidence ahead of the championship.

Ndyagumanawe will open up his first game with George Kiwanuka.

Alfred Black Sheep Gumikiriza tasted victory in the year 2012

Fahad ‘The Bee’ Ssewankambo is in the lime light as the defending champion
