Rugby sensational player, Phillip Wokoroach is one among the many sportsmen in Uganda and the world over, to say the least, that boldly has never forgotten his routes and ladders that shot him to prominence.

The 22 year old, arguably rates among the best side stepping rugby players in the country.

He attests his pedestal rise to fame to the great grooming he was accorded as an infant.

An effervescent player, blessed with an array of ball handling and passing skills, quick reaction on and off the ball, awesome customary side steps and fast acceleration, notes;

Tag rugby made the Phillip Wokorach frame you see today. I learnt the basics of the game (rugby) from Tag and I am fully behind the programme to help many more interested young individuals follow my path.

Back in the primary days of Kiswa, through to Hana Mixed where he became a household name in school rugby and now at Uganda Christian University, Wokoroach owes his fast development to the sheer love he had for the game.

I was interested and willing to learn the rugby, often injecting in extra hours to watch and practice time and again.

During his latter stages at Hana Mixed, he earned a call up to second division league outfit, Stallions Rugby club.

Life at Stallions further exposed me to the challenges of the game proper. The hard tackling, fast and accurate release of the ball, more side stepping and where to do it and the like

He then earned a promotion to the Buffaloes rugby club, a team in the elite super eight division, winning the national 7’s crown in the year 2012.

Under close scrutiny, he surged to the senior team, Heathens the following year, winning the league and the Uganda Cup before suffering the career threatening injury in March 2013.

Like fate would dictate, he was sidelined until December 2013 before resuming the assault from where he had ceased seven months ago.

He was still part of the winning team in the league and seven’s tournaments in 2014.

For his awesome progression, he earned a four months’ training stint in the United Kingdom with English Rugby Union side Esher RFC.

Unfortunately, Wokoroach succumbed to a second career set back when he broke the second leg while in Surrey – Hersham, England.

The aspiring Business Administration graduate at Uganda Christian University (UCU) plans of a full comeback.

Wokorach grimaces in pain during the first of career threatening injuries

It has been a trying moment for me since I got injured, but thanks to the Almighty, I am steadily recovering and looking forward to resuming my duties for club and country

Ironically, teammates and the opposition alike will concur on one common front for once to wish the young talented promising player the best recovery process ever.
