From a pathetic 3-0 defeat at the hands of Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) to a commanding 3-0 win over Ndejje Elites was the story of Espoir in the National Volleyball League women’s division over the weekend.
Ndejje, the immediate former champions looked clueless on court in a game the Johnson Kawenyera side struggled to dominate the net defense despite boasting of a reasonable height advantage.
Espoir made sure their service and court cover provided the cutting edge they needed before running off (25-22, 25-18, 27-25) in a game Ndejje failed to impose themselves.
Espoir’s Faridah Nalinya told Kawowo Sports;
As a team after that terrible performance against VVC we had a serious chat and decided to have our priorities and targets right. We have committed ourselves even away from our training days to do something that improves each one of us.
Unfortunately for Nalinya and company, Espoir fell 3-2 to Nkumba in their ensuing game on Sunday as the latter held onto fourth place with 36 points, Espoir remained sixth on 33 points.
VVC continue to hold onto the summit with 52 points from 18 wins as they picked two easy victories off Nemostars and Thunder, both wins coming in straight sets.
Ndejje also recovered from the Espoir defeat to beat KAVC 3-0 taking their points tally to 43 points while Sport-S saw off KAVC-B also 3-0 to keep themselves in third on 40 points.
