Ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde, Kenya Harambee Stars Coach Bobby Williamson has summoned Ugandan born midfielder Innocent Wafula to the team.
Confortable both on the left and right side of midfield, Wafula who plies his trade with Sportspesa Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia was born in Busia District near the Kenya – Uganda border in the East.
He has been in sensational form this season scoring goals as well as assisting strikers Michael Olunga and Meddie Kagere.
His nationality has always been an issue on contention but it appears he has now settled for Kenya.
Meanwhile, the 31 man squad summoned by the ex- Cranes coach is the one from which players to feature for Kenya at the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia will be picked.
The fixture against Cape Verde is slated for November 13 in Nairobi while the Challenge Cup gets underway in Ethiopia on November 21.
Kenya are the defending champions having beaten Sudan in the finals at Nyayo stadium in 2013.
