After making his debut in the Uganda Cranes 2-0 win over Sudan, Bernard Muwanga targets more caps with the national team.

The Bright Stars’ skipper started in the defensive midfield role before switching to his natural centre back position midway the second half and he couldn’t hide his joy for representing the country.

“It was a great honour to represent the national team,” he told Kawowo Sports on arrival from Khartoum. “Nevertheless, am not that excited but targets many more appearances,” he added.

A number of players have in the past been part of the teams that play in the qualifiers but miss out on the tournament due to slip in form but Muwanga doesn’t want to follow suit.

“It’s too early as we talk but I believe if I can keep working hard and stay injury free with the mercy of God, I will leave it to the coaches.”

Muwanga is regarded as one of the best game reading defenders in the league at the moment and hails managers right from the academy.

“I attribute my game to all the coaches that have handled me since I was still a boy. I guess I have had some of the best tacticians to handle me.”
