Gor Mahia 2-0 Muhoroni Youth

Gor Mahia FC have been crowned the 2015 Sportspesa Kenya Premier League champions on Sunday after beating Muhoroni Youth 2-0 at Nyayo to finish the season unbeaten.

K’Ogalo had already been declared winners with four games to go but with an unbeaten record to keep, they were under pressure in the final game of the season and saw the visitors holding them to a barren draw in the first half.

The second half however proved something else as Victor Ali Abondo gave the Green Army a lead on the 61st minute with a well curled free kick before danger man Michael Olunga made it 2-0 with an 85th minute strike.

The goal moved the lanky forward to 19 league goals this season; three adrift of Tusker FC’s Jesse Were who finished as the league’s golden boy with 22 goals.

Overall, Gor Mahia won 24 out of 30 league games drawing the remainder emulating the class of 1976 that also went the league unbeaten.

Ugandans Aucho Khalid and Godfrey Walusimbi are part of the K’Ogalo history makers although the latter didn’t feature in the final league game.

The trophy is Gor Mahia’s third on the bounce after winning the 2013 and 2014 seasons too.

Ulinzi Stars finished second with 58 points while Sofapaka finished third with 47 points.

In other matches played today, AFC Leopards lost 3-1 to Tusker FC, Sofapaka beat Thika United 2-1, Nakuru AllStars drew 0-0 with Ushuru FC while Nairobi City Stars drew 1-1 with Sony Sugar.

Chemilil Sugar drew 1-1 with Mathare, Western Stima drew 1-1 with KCB, Ulinzi Stars drew 0-0 Bandari.

The results mean Western Stima, Thika United, Chemilil Sugar, City Stars, KCB and Nakuru AllStars occupy the last six positions.
