Ivan Byekwaso is already a household name in the local Body Building circles, but he is steadily taking his place at the international scene as well.
The reigning MR Natural Universe on Saturday scooped another international title, the INBA/PNBA World Cup, in San Diego, California
Competing against contestants from hosts, Australia among others Byekwaso dumbfounded spectators and Judges with his skills to emerge the best in his 175cm Short Men category.
He later claimed the overall crown, beating his taller, Byekwaso then rushed to his Facebook page (MRUganda Byekwaso Ivan) and posted.
Oh Lord thanks for lifting me up…ladies and gentlemen again, this victory is for every Ugandan around the world, thanks for your prayers
Byekwaso has time and again confessed that he is past that level of a participant at the big stage and he is now a competitor with phrases like.
I am now past that level of vying for mere places. Ugandans know that I never make empty promises. Trust me I am going for gold.
Before proving his international worth, Byekwaso, a five-time Mr Uganda and Mr Kampala winner, former manager Kamal Sabuni passed begging baskets for facilitation.
It is a smoother ride, now with Pemba Sports Africa, a new sports promotion, footing the bills and paying for his training in California under world class coach Lorenzo Gaspar.
In June 2014 Byekwaso inked his name in the echelons of international bodybuilding as a debutant who won a silver medal at the INBA World Championships in Nitra, Slovakia and a USA. Next week, he will feature at the INBA Olympia in Las Vegas where he won bronze last year.
