Uganda vs. Barcelona Legends – Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole

Former Spanish international Albert Luque has confirmed to play for the Barcelona legends in the up coming match against Uganda Cranes on the 12th December 2015 at Nelson Mandela National stadium, Kampala.

Luque, a former player at the Barcelona youth system between 2001 and 2007 confirmed on Monday.

 In 2007, Luque transfered for Mallorca B before he graduated to the senior team two years later.

He also played for Deportivo La Coruna, New Castle, Ajax and ended his club career with Malaga in 2011.

The winger featured for Spain U-21 and 23 sides enroute winning 17 caps for the senior national team, scoring three goals. He played at the 2002 World Cup finals.

Luque joins the ever swelling list of stars including Brazilian Juliano Belleti who confirmed last week.

The other former Barcelona players who confirmed are; Patrick Kluivert, Carles Puyol, Deco, Francisco Coco,Ludovic Guily, Gianluca Zambrota, Deco, Gaizka Mendieta, Edgar Davids, Luis Garcia and Rayco Garcia.

The former Barcelona stars are expected to start arriving by December 8 for the match intended to raise funds towards the establishment of a Sports Academy in Uganda under the Rayco Garcia foundation.

Besides featuring in the match, the stars will have a guided tour around Uganda’s national parks in a bid to promote the tourism sector of Uganda.

Uganda’s team will be skippered by former Cranes and Kaizer Chiefs star David Obua with URA’s Simeon Masaba as well as Tonny Mawejje some of the confirmed players while KCCA FC’s Mike Mutebi will be the coach.
