Uganda Premier League defending champions, Vipers Sports Club has been given the green light to represent Uganda in the 2016 CAF Champions League.

Vipers SC have met all the requirements and only await inspection by CAF before being given the all clear to make their maiden appearance on the continent in next year’s CAF Champions League.

FUFA Licensing Committee Chairman, Patrick Ogwel confirmed the development last week at the federation’s weekly press conference;

Vipers Sports Club paid the security fee of $10,000 to the FUFA accounts plus the $500 as registration fees.

Vipers CEO, Peter Lwanga says they are looking to the competition having failed to make the debut when the team first won their first league title back in 2010 due to financial constraints.

Lwanga told the club website;

Every requirement has been met and we are now looking forward to who our opponents will be when the draws are finally conducted.

Vipers’ head coach, Edward Golola was excited by the development and told the club website;

This development has eased my worries, for the last time we failed to represent our country. Now that it’s confirmed, let me sharpen my machines for the challenge ahead.
