Ugandan international Denis Onyango will not feature in any club football match on the weekend, after head coach Pitso Mosimane gave the players a 7-days’ rest ahead of the Telkom Knockout Cup Final.
Sundowns take on Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 16 December following their famous 3-1 win against Free State Stars on Saturday.
“I will give them five days’ break, Monday to Friday, to rest and spend time with their families,” he told kick off. “We will be back on Sunday for two weeks and two days before the Final and that will be enough.”
After featuring for the Uganda Cranes as they progressed past Togo for the group stages in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers then against Free State Stars, Onyango sustained a shoulder complication and the coach is now happy and confident the player will return.
“I am happy with the break because I can get [Anthony] Laffor back, I can get Khama [Billiat] back, I can get [Mzi] Mashaba back, I can get [Tebogo] Langerman back, I can get Teko [Modise] back and Denis’ [Onyango] shoulder can heal.”
