FUFA Big League: Elgon Group

  • Kira Young F.C 0-2 Water F.C
  • Artlland- Katale F.C 4-1 Lira United F.C

How fast times change!

Former premier league outfit, Kira Young football club now swimming in the murky waters of the FUFA Big league without a coach were condemned to their 5th defeat in 10 outings by a well-organized and determined Water FC at Kira Town council play ground on match day 11.

After barren first half, both teams enjoying equal possession albeit a physical game.

Clumsy defending, poor communication and lack of concentration especially in defense cost the former Uganda premier league team a win, both goals coming due to mistakes that should have been avoided.

Lutalo George’s team took advantage of its opponent’s weaknesses to return home with maximum points although a draw would have still been good a result for the visitors considering the fact that Kira Young controlled possession and had more shots on goal in the second half.

Former Bright Stars’ player Mahad Kalema headed home his first in the 54th minute before sliding a pass past three disorganized defenders to double their advantage in the 87th minute.

The home team saw most of the ball in the second half but failed to utilize their chances.

Striker Ramathan Jagwe missed the best of chances when he failed to control a thrilling cross from substitute Noah Kamoga the fans’ favorite, who had left former KCCA defender, Tenywa Mubarak for dead before sending his cross.

Player- coach James Mukubya, formerly at Sports Club Villa had a couple of crosses land inside the box but unfortunately had his best land into the safe hands of goal keeper Nsubuga Zakariya.

Both Jagwe Ramathan the Kira Young striker and Water FC midfielder Yusuf Ezama saw their names recorded in the referee’s book for unsporting behaviour.

Meanwhile, Artland-Katale maintained the leadership grip at the summit of the table standings with a majestic 4-1 home win over Lira United at the Mashariki S.S play ground.

Kimera Ibra, Marin Opolot, Naddin Galiwango and Shakul Makera scored for Artland-Katale as Joachim Ojera had the consolation for the league debutants.

Despite the win, Water F.C remains glued at the bottom of the table with just three points, having missed two games – a fate that came alongside a hefty penalty of 12 points loss.

Kira Young F.C drops a slot to 6th on 13 points, same number of points with Paidha Black Angels.
