For the second time in two consecutive matches, Ugandan born diminutive goalkeeper, Shamiru Batte staged a man of the match performance for his club, A.S Kigali F.C enroute winning the 2015 StarTimes Christmas Cup in Kigali, Rwanda.

Batte, a former goalkeeper at St Marys Kitende and Entebbe F.C saved two penalties against Mukura Football Club in the finals played at Mumena stadium.

Goal poacher, Mabula Hakilinova had given Eric Nshimiyimana coached AS Kigali the lead before Ali Solva replied for Mukura F.C in similar fashion.

In the shoot out, A.S Kigali scored through Amidu, Bishira, Kayumba Soteri and Mabura Hakilinova as Batte save two shots to grant the Kigali based side victory that comes along with gold medals, 5,000,000 Rwanda Francs and a glittering trophy.

An excited Batte told Kawowo Sports by telephone that he is always ready to play in the name of winning in all instances;

I am very happy for this victory. I am always ready and prepared for all instances and winning is now part of me.

Uganda’s SC Villa were part of the 8 teams in the tournament.

SC Villa did not progress from their group having drawn all the three games.

Mukura F.C, the losing finalists were rewarded with Rwf2.5 million.
