The government of Uganda through the ministry of sports has promised to compensate the victims that were hurt in the accident involving Uganda Cranes Bus and a taxi.

On Tuesday, a bus carrying Uganda Cranes players hit a Taxi along Mbale – Tirinyi Road leaving six dead and other injured including two Ugandan players Hassan Wasswa Dazo and Denis Okot.

According to local radio station KFM, the move to compensate the victims was revealed by Sports minister Charles Bakkabulindi who said they are waiting on the report from the police.

He also lashed at critics who were blaming the move to take the team to Soroti where they presented the CECAFA trophy to the president insisting the national team can meet the His Excellence in any part of the country.

When Kawowo Sports contacted Bakkabulindi, he reiterated he was in a meeting but promised to divulge the details later. “I am still in a meeting but will give you details about this later,” he said.

Meanwhile, FUFA confirms that Wasswa and Okot are being treated at Nakasero Hospital; a decision taken by government.
