Rain continues to play a big part in Ugandan sports, from Basketball and Volleyball games being washed out to Kick boxing encounters ending prematurely.

The game of football hasn’t been spared either, the Uganda Premier League game between SC Victoria University and JMC was on Tuesday evening washed out because of the soggy ground that was deemed unplayable by the match day officials.

For Uganda Rugby Union, they won’t wait for the worst to happen. The Rugby Premier League has been suspended until 9th January 2016 to avoid any dangers that the players would face due to the conditions of the playing grounds.

“The rains have affected us so much, the most used grounds are in dire conditions and it is dangerous to the health of the players,” Rugby Union’s Yayiro Kasasa told Kawowo sports.

The decision was reached after the Union seeking advice from the both the Medical and Referees committees.

“The medical committee recommended that we push the games until the rains have reduced,” Kasasa added.

Just a week ago, management at Kyadondo Rugby Club decided to seal off the playing area that was slowly losing its green in a bid to get it back to its best state.

All Kyadondo games were then moved to Uganda Christian University in Mukono.

Kyadondo is home to two league teams; Heathens and Buffaloes while Legends has Rhino, Mutoni Warriors, Pirates and Betway Kobs using it as their home ground.

The league was just about to enter game week three before the abrupt suspension.
