Key among the basic laws of the football game world over stems on the pillar of fair-play.

All acts intended to violate this rule have been always accorded the strongest condemnation.

Uganda Premier League limited, the governing authority of the top tier football league in the country has strongly come out to warn the various clubs that have violated the fair play rule through use of ball boys.

UPL Chief Executive Officer Bainamani Bernard Bampaire, in a strongly worded statement to the clubs has noted that some teams especially home teams are in a habit of using the ball boys to hide match balls during matches.

The UPL Secretariat has established that some teams especially home teams are in a habit of using the ball boys to hide match balls during matches when they feel that the result at the time is giving them an advantage or is in their favour.

This is not only unsporting but also teaches the ball boys such unsporting habits. It tantamounts to cheating self, opponents and spectators.

The match referees have been asked to ensure that at least four balls are available for use before kickoff and during the match.

The referee may stop the game until the number of balls prescribed above is ensured if in his opinion the disappearance of the balls is for unsporting reasons.

He adds with a warning;

Any team reported to have failed to comply with this requirement may lose the match by forfeiture and may face any other disciplinary sanction. We hope the parties concerned will understand the sporting intentions of this communication.

The league resumes on Saturday, 26th December 2015 with four games.
