2015 Entebbe Best Sports Personality:

  • 2nd Runners up: Ronald Adigas (Entebbe Mongers Rugby player)
  • 3rd Runners up: Ben Kigongo Ssebalamu (Entebbe Mongers Rugby Player)

Twelve year old Jeff Gracious Kayongo is the 2015 Entebbe Municipality sports personality of the year.

The Woodball player represented Uganda at International Woodball Championships in Singapore and Malaysia.

At both events, the soft spoken Kayongo scooped bronze medal.

He beat off a strong field of established stars to the gong during the glamorous Entebbe red carpet dinner and awards night took place on Sunday at Flight Motel in Entebbe.

A visibly excited Kayongo beat Uganda Cranes right back, Dennis Iguma and two Entebbe Mongers Rugby Club players, Ronald Adigas and coach cum player, Ben Kigongo Ssebalamu.

Accompanied by his father, Jeff Kayongo senior, the primary seven vacist told Kawowo Sports that the award motivates him to great strides in life;

I am very excited upon this award. I will even work harder to retain the award

Kayongo was also among the top performers at the 2015 Entebbe open Woodball championship that was held at Lake Victoria primary school.

His awesome performances under the Junior category at the 8th Uganda Woodball open played at St Joseph Technical institute, Kisubi also caught the Entebbeans.

Former Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Executive Director, Male Mukasa, the Entebbe Mayor Vincent Kayanja De Paul were some of the high profile guests at the event that has been already confirmed to be an annual do according to the chief brain behind the project, Kamya Kayanja.

This was the first ever dinner and Awards night in Entebbe Municipality.

It was attended by elite and middle class personalities within the Municipality.

Born and bred music stars Daisy and Coco Finger thrilled the crowd with various performances.

Coco Finger staged an energetic performance of his ‘Emikono Wagulu’ hit before he used the plat form to unofficially release the his new song ‘Wano Waka’ literally translated ‘Here is Home’.

There were other awards in education, entrepreneurship, journalism and entertainment.
