Ugandan born boxer, Edward ‘Messiah’ Kakembo is the new welter weight African Boxing Union (ABU) champion.

Kakembo overcame Nigerian fighter, Scorrow on a points decision after highly contested six round of action in Abuja on boxing day.

By the end of the fight two of the three judges ruled that the Ugandan had a better night in the rings.

He scored 109-116, 112-116 and  115-113.

Kakembo, who was a last minute replacement in the place of an injured Kenyan boxer becomes the new African boxing Union champion in the welter weight category.

For the success, the Ugandan smiled back home with a cash prize of 1.5 Nigerian Naira.
