Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) seed six and Pool Cranes player Sula Matovu won the 2015  Christmas Cup title in the male gender.

In the same vein, Vicky Namuyanja won the ladies’ category.

Matovu’s victory comes after three years of waiting without a major trophy.

Matovu who promised his supporters at the start of the season that he will win at least a trophy this year had a reason to smile yesterday when he beat his teammate Fahad Ssewankambo 6-3 in the best of 11 Finals at Rock Catalina, Ntinda.

Matovu started his campaign with a 3-1 win over Uganda’s slowest player Idd Walusimbi  before making a sweet Revenge on Simon ‘Computer’ Lubulwa who had beaten him in the 2015 Kampala Open Championship with a 3-0 win.

He continued with a 4-3 win over Capital Night’s Young Talented Player Ibrahim Sejjemba  before surviving veteran Moses Mukwaya who led him 3-1 to overcome him in The Quarter Finals with a 4-3 win.

Matovu enjoyed Scrap Buyers’ Joseph Kasozi in the Semifinals with a 5-0 win in the best-of-nine  semifinals.

Fahad Ssewankambo Survived  Kenyan International Silivano Weru   in the Quarter Finals  4-3 before whelming Scrap Buyers Salim Akankwasa 5-2 in the Semi Finals.

Ssewankambo kept his hopes alive in the finals when he led 3-1 but Matovu was too good to win yesterday when he won five straight frames to claim the championship.

Am really happy because it have been longtime since I last won a Pool Trophy and I dedicate this trophy to all my supporters and managers who have been facilitating my Training.
