4th CHAN Championship: 16th January to 7th February 2016

Nigeria CHAN team for the 2016 edition was named on Saturday and left for Pretoria, South Africa where they will camp ahead of championship in Rwanda.

Before departing for South Africa, the team has been in a residential camp under assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf as the head coach Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh continued with recovery in Belgium with ailment.

Left Behind:

Goal keeper David Obiazor  who turns out for Heartland football club is among the three players who did not make the cut.

Sunshine Stars’ Stephen Eze and Warri Wolves’ Gbolahan Salami also failed to make the final team.

The team played to a goal-less draw with Babayara Football club in Abuja during a practice match at the Abuja international stadium.

Ahead of the the tournament for locally based players Nigeria has already booked two friendlies matches against Angola and Cote d’lvoire on 6th and 9th January 2016 respectively in Pretoria, South Africa.

Nigeria was drawn in Group C alongside Niger, Tunisia and Guinea, and will be based at the Kigali Regional Stadium, Nyamirambo.

Matches:

Whereas the tournament starts on 16th January 2015, Nigeria will be action against Niger on the 18th in Kigali.

Then will play Tunisia and Guinea on the 22nd and 26th January 2015 respectively to complete their group games.

The Super Eagles won the bronze medal at the last African Nations Championship held in South Africa in early 2014, the fourth edition of the the competition.
