Edrisa Lubega is a well built but young talented striker turning out for Proline Soccer Academy.
He is christened ‘Torres’, after the Spanish striker for his at will goal scoring prowess and exploits.
For the 13 goals scored in 11 games of the second tier league, the FUFA Big League, he quickly caught the attention of the national team selectors.
He was part of the 41 players summoned to prepare with the Uganda Cranes team for the 2016 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament slated to kick off on 16th January 2016 in Rwanda.
Lubega was shocked by the call but again, he quickly believes he was worth;
It shocked me to get called to the Uganda Cranes training for the first time, but again, i worked so hard with my teammates at Proline Soccer Academy to score the goals and get recognized.
He boldly attests even though it was the first time summon, he was never under any sort of pressure.
I am happy to join the national team. I am not under any pressure and i expect to continue working hard to maintain my good run.
Lubega’s 13 goals for Proline Soccer Academy elevate him among the top scorers of the second tier league in the country with just one round played.
With the second round coming up in late January 2016, he eyes working with teammates to attain the prime goal of being promoted to the Uganda Premier League;
I want to continue scoring the goals (with the help of my teammates) as we target promotion. We are focused and working as a complete unit.
The S.6 student at Dynamic S.S in Mukono was also joint top scorer with Singo teammate, Mol Mawketh as they won the 2015 Buganda Masaza cup.
The fearless mentality bestowed upon the young forward will definitely project him to new scales once well handled and guided.
