Uganda 1-1 Gabon
A late Ronald Ntsitsigui well tapped in effort cancelled Erisa Ssekisambu’s first half opener as Uganda Cranes shared the spoils with Gabon in an international build-up played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
The visitors had a bright start by showing agency and intensity inside the opening minutes of the game played on astro-turf. Cedric Ondo Biyoghe narrowly missed target from over 30 yards in the 3rd minute of the fast paced game.
Uganda quickly recovered and a well-orchestrated move two minutes later yielded a corner.
Ssekisambu shot wide narrowly after with the quarter hour mark knocking but it was lanky goalkeeper, Ismail Watenga who came to the hosts’ rescue with a telling save off Stevy Gucvane Nzambe.
In the 33rd minute, right back Dennis Okot met Miya well played ball and Ssekisambu was perfectly stationed to nod home the opener past CF Mounana’s goalkeeper Stephane Bitseki Moto.
Ronald Ntsitsigui Ewouta of AS Mangasport replied for the visitors barely 10 minutes left on the clock.
Changes:
Micho called for four changes as the second half of the game started.
Muzamir Mutyaba and Francis Olaki were the first two changes and they replaced team captain, Faruok Miya and Ceasar Okhuti respectively.
Ivan Ntege came in for Erisa Ssekisambu, Mathias Kigonya replaced Ismail Watenga and Robert Sentongo paved way for Frank Kalanda.
Three players; Geofrey Sserunkuma, goalkeeper James Alitho and Martin Kizza did not make the final 20 and will be considered for the Cameroon build up on Wednesday
