Nemostars captain George Aporu and Vision Volleyball Camp’s centre player Zaina Kagoya have been named USPA male and female volleyball personalities of the year respectively.
The pair were named today morning by Uganda Sports Press Association members at Imperial Royale Hotel.
Aporu was pivotal in Nemostars’ national league triumph as well as the team’s glory in both the KIU and UCU open tournaments and despite the side’s struggles throughout the season, the soft spoken Aporu stood out.
He, at one point of the season came on court with an injured wrist to guide the Kololo outfit to league glory.
For Kagoya, it was always going to be easy to beat off her competition. She conquered the entire volleyball calendar by putting up tremendous displays in VVC’ s run to eight titles in 2015.
The pair was over the weekend nominated for the MVP accolade in their respective categories for the Volleyball Awards Gala slated for Saturday.
