CHAN 2016 Build up: Nigeria 1-0 Ivory Coast

Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated fellow West Africa rivals Ivory Coast 1-0 at the Tuks Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa on Monday.

Matthew Ifeanyi’s first half goal was the all important strike in the two side’s final build up ahead of the African Nations Championship billed to kick off on the 16th of January in Rwanda.

The opening 45 minutes of the game witnessed Ikechukwu Ibenegbu’s shot hit the crossbar earlier on after great work from Tunde Adeniji from the right flank.

Adeniji and Ezekiel Bassey had chances to extend Nigeria’s lead but failed on different fronts.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, pulled out a couple of saves before Stephen Eze cleared off the line.

Second Victory:

The victory against Cote d’Ivoire is the second victory for the home-Eagles in the pre-CHAN tournament in Pretoria, after defeating Ama Tuks 3-0 and played a 1-1 draw with fellow CHAN bound team, the Palancas Negras of Angola on Saturday.

Nigeria is expected to hit Rwanda on Friday, 15th January 2016 three days to their opening game against Niger Republic at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo, Kigali in Rwanda.
