Defending champions Sports Club Villa make the list alongside recent finalists KCCA FC, URA FC, JMC Hippos, Police FC, BUL FC, Kampala region semi-finalists: Kyambogo, St Marys – Nabweru, Future Stars, lndustrial Area and many more.

The previous showpiece had Sports Club Villa overcame Kampala City Council 3-0 in a re-play at the Nelson Mandela Stadium after the first game got marred by chaos from angry fans.

The match was aborted in the 72nd minute on June 6th 2015 at the Kyamate play ground in Ntungamo when fans invaded the playing area following suspect refereeing from Robert Donney.

The Center referee whose appointment to handle the encounter had been highly debated, awarded a 64th minute after he ruled defender, Joseph Ochaya had brought down Chriszetom Ntambi in the area.

The rosy evening then culminated in total confusion and shame before several invited guests and millions of fans, who were watching the game live on television across the divide.

By the time of the abandonment in the 72nd minute, Sports Club Villa had taken the lead through a well converted controversial penalty by Erisa Ssekisambu in the 68th minute.

In the re-play handled by Kenyan referees, Augustine Nsumba opened the scores for Villa in the the 32rd minute before second half substitutes, Abdul Karim Kasule and Yesseri Waibi sealed the deal.

The new edition will now be under closer scrutiny as the organizers look to make it better as compared to the recent. The round of 64 draw will take place at 10.00am.
