Less than three days after being confirmed as assistant to Dylan Kerr, Ugandan ex-International Jackson ‘Mia Mia’ Mayanja has assumed the head coaching role at the club.
The development comes after the Msimbazi relieved the Briton of his duties after the team was ejected from the Mapinduzi Cup at the quarter final stage by Mtibwa Sugar.
The team’s head of communication Sunday Manara revealed that the entire executive agreed on the move to sack the former Black pool player although he didn’t reveal why exactly this happened.
“It’s true,” said Manara. “He has been relieved of his duties and Mayanja takes over as interim as the search for a permanent coach begins,” he added.
Kerr has been in charge of the former Tanzania Vodacom Premier League winners since July last year and has managed 30 games winning 19, losing five and drawing six.
He leaves the club in third position with 27 points; eight adrift of leaders Azam FC after 13 games played.
Deal resembles Nsimbe move to Azam
The move is almost similar to the one in which another Ugandan George ‘Best’ Nsimbe joined another Tanzanian club; Azam.
Nsimbe moved to the Bakhresa Sponsored club in December 2014 as assistant to Cameroonian John Omog.
Omog was later sacked and Nsimbe took over as head before he left the club in August last year.
