Diana Turyanabo is a rare breed of female boxers in Uganda.

Bestowed with an unruffled personality, she portrays a vivid sporting character of an individual down to earth with a mission to accomplish.

Given the strict training regime she undertakes, it is a true reflection that defines her intended destiny in life – to succeed.

I want to be a successful professional female boxer. It is something I have worked for in a long time now. Every morning, I wake up to train aiming towards that target.

In a sport that is predominately occupied by the male gender world over, Turyanabo conducts her work outs thrice in a day.

The first session is early in the morning, proceeded by the mid-morning sparring in the gym, followed by the late evening work-outs.

Inspiration:

The 23 year old made her boxing debut in the year 2007. She was inspired by Hellen Balete, a former boxer.

When I was growing up, I loved the way Balete played. I admired the way they guarded (defence), the punch execution and the foot-work.

In the amateur ranks, Turyanabo had ten fights registering 7 clear victories, four of these were knock outs, two draws and a single loss.

So far, she has been engaged in two fights professionally, winning both of them.

She believes the professional journey embarked on can only blossom with better training amenities, the right diet and a reliable sponsor to finance all her basic requirements.

I am looking for a sponsor to help my professional journey as I look towards fulfilling my ambitions.

Turyanabo, for now can only hope for the better and dream for the best.
