Zambian Super League champions Zesco United will now face a new opponent in their first preliminary CAF Champions League after the Confederation of African Football revised the fixtures.
The Ndola based club which was scheduled to meet South Sudanese National League Champions Atlabara will now meet little known Al-Ghazal FC.
Atlabara, coached by a Ugandan coach, Leo Adraa communicated a switch to the lesser CAF Confederations Cup despite winning the South Sudanese League in style.
Al-Ghazal however will not be push overs as they finished second in the league.
The club is based in Wau City approximately 600km from the capital Juba will play their first leg in Ndola in the weekend of February 12-14 before concluding with a return leg a week later in Juba.
Al Ghazal featured in last year’s CAF Confederations Cup losing out in the preliminaries by a huge 7-1 drubbing on aggregate at the hands of Egyptian Petrojet.
They lost the away fixture 6-1 and lost at home 1-0.
In Uganda, Sports Club Villa will play Sudanese club Al Khartoum National in the CAF Confederations Cup and Vipers Sports Club is set to take on Nigerian champions, Ennyimba Stars in the Champions League.
