Ponsiano Lwakataka overcame a string of mechanical setbacks to record an impressive return to the National Rally Championship.
On his first race after three years, he improved his day one 13th position to a fourth overall finish.
The former national champion marked his rally return with a stage win.
“My return has showed that am talented and still a fast driver. Imagine I was competing with new model cars but I still beat them,” the MafuMafu driver said. “Its only Sebuguzi who was hard but it doesn’t surprise me,” he added.
The two-time rally champion says he is looking forward to a full season participation.
“Am now back, I need other drivers to have a feel of my presence this season just hope all goes well,” he said.
Lwakataka now stands fourth on the NRC standings with 50 points.
