Former Uganda Cranes International, Moses Basena is now a delighted gentleman.

News that the humbled CAF A qualified tactician has landed the head coaching job at Uganda premier league club, The Saints Football club will excite even a deep sleeping toddler.

Basena, fresh from the CHAN 2016 tournament in Rwanda with the Uganda Cranes team where he doubles as the assistant coach to Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is set to be introduced to the club players officially on Monday.

A highly placed source inside the club that requested not to be named for fear of being black-mailed confirmed to Kawowo Sports;

The coach (Moses Basena) will be officially unveiled before the players on Monday

Basena’s arrival at The Saints F.C will bring excitement for his vast experience, theoretical and practical approach towards the beautiful game.

He has previously coached Sports Club Villa, KCCA F.C, Express, Simba Sports Club, Kira Young F.C URA F.C and Makerere University teams in Uganda.

His mark was extended across the region with a coaching stint with Tanzanian giant, Simba Sports Club..

Basena is a known open minded displinarian, whose zero tolerance to mediocrity has often won him a few foes.

An alleged players’ coup at URA F.C left rendered him job-less after management reasoned the big gap between the coach and his playing staff could cost the club quite a fortune.

His immediate deputy at the tax collectors’ side then, Kefa Kisala took over the ruins of the club.

He has been club-less since the time but was executing his duties as Uganda Cranes’ assistant coach to Micho.

At The Saints F.C, he finds a team assembled by Nsiimbe with a prime target to survive relegation.

The club lost George ‘Best’ Nsiimbe after he agreed personal terms with the reigning league champions, Vipers Sports Club earlier last week.

The Saints F.C on Sunday convincingly won a Uganda Cup fixture 4-0 away to Nyakisenyi F.C in Rukungiri district in the round of 64.

At the round of 32 stage, they are set to play BUL F.C at Kakindu stadium on Valentines’ day (14th February 2016) in what will be Basena’s first test at The Saints F.C.

Efforts to get a comment from The Saints F.C club chairman, Johnson ‘Johnny’ Musinguzi proved futile as he could not be accessible via the known mobile telephone contact.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
