The Uganda Lady Volleyball Cranes were flagged off yesterday at the National Council of Sports offices and with Africa’s elite class of volleyball playing countries expected at the tournament, qualifying for the prestigious Olympic Games may be too much to ask of the team.

“Our chances are low but we will play our hearts out,” team captain Milly Laker told Kawowo Sports before the team set off for Cameroon.

With the federation failing to raise all the required funds, the team had to be trimmed to ten players to fit in the budget. Maureen Mwamula was dropped on the final day and head coach Tony Lakony believes the team will perform despite the challenges.

“We would have loved to take all our players but the resources were not enough, we shall still try to do our best,” Lakony said.
