Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba has turned down an opportunity to join URA FC Coaching staff ahead of the second round.

The Tax Collectors are searching for a credible tactician to work alongside interim coach Kefa Kisala who has been in charge since the sacking of Moses Basena who is now at The Saints FC.

Kawowo Sports understands that URA FC has engaged Kajoba who heads the coaching staff at Bright Stars FC but he turned them down.

“They approached him,” a credible source said. “They had almost agreed on everything until Tuesday when he opted out,” a source added.

Asked what could have been the cause of the breakdown of talks, he said. “His attachment and relationship with Bright Stars management has been so vital in his decision making.”

With him unavailable now, it’s believed the club will turn to ex-KCCA coach Abdallah Mubiru and Matia Lule who are currently without clubs.

Kajoba has recently worked with Kisala at national level where the former is still serving as goalkeeping coach.

URA FC are out of the Uganda Cup but are still in the race for the title as they sit fourth on the log with just four points adrift of leaders KCCA.

They open their second round league fixtures against KCCA at Nakivubo on February 23.
