Bandari Football Club striker Dan ‘Muzeei’ Sserunkuma is yet to recover a bag that went missing upon landing in Lubumbashi for CAF Confederations Cup engagement with Democratic Republic of Congo club, Saint Lupopo Football Club.
Sserunkuma’s bag disappeared at Lubumbashi Airport after the Ugandan arrived barely two hours before match kick-off following a visa hitch.
The diminutive, fast and very intelligent forward confirmed that Kenya Airways Authority (KAA) have requested for more time to trace the missing bag and promised to compensate him should the recovery efforts prove futile.
As quoted by Futaa.com, Sserunkuma said;
KAA headquarters in Nairobi informed me to check with them by this weekend but assured me that they will compensate for the loss.
The bag disappeared without trace upon arrival at the Airport in Lubumbashi before kick-off of the Confederations Cup clash against FC Saint Lupopo.
It had among other things a play station and training kits.
Two other Ugandans George Abege and Musa Mudde arrived in Congo late and were used as second half substitutes.
Edward Oduor, technical director at Bandari F.C explained;
Mudde was scheduled to play, he has been an important player in our squad and we expected to include him in the starting line-up. However, he arrived three hours before the match and technically we could not start him.
Lupopo won the first leg 2-0 setting the stage for an explosive return leg at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
