Uganda Premier League:

Bright Stars F.C 0-0 URA F.C

Bright Stars Football Club proved they remain the most defensive club in the Uganda Premier League thus far with a hard earned point against an offensive side, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) F.C at Mwererwe on Saturday.

Prior to the match, all talk had been centered on Bright Stars meanest defence which has conceded just 7 goals, one short of Jinja Municipal Council’s 8.

Facing an attack minded URA F.C side would be perfect examination which they passed with flying colours.

The visiting team started brilliantly when Frank Kalanda headed inches wide from an open chance inside the home team’s penalty area in the 5th minute.

Five minutes later, Yayo Lutimba’s attempt was put under check by goalkeeper, Mathias Kigonya.

The home team’s opening threat came from Farouk Banga in the 13th minute. Banga and the rest of the Stars’ teammates, looked on in disbelief when goalie Sulait Luyima parried for a corner a goal bound shot from about 25 yards.

On the hour mark, dead-ball specialist, Jimmy Lule tested Luyima with his customary curlers before he set up Baker Lukooya with a chipped effort 10 minutes later.

Banga had a chance to burry the game but his headed attempt off Lule’s delivery sailed away from the goal to the disbelief of the executor and the hundreds of keen followers at the sidelines of the Champions stadium.

The rest of the game was bent on hope of a goal but either sides remained solid throughout.

Both sides have now played 18 games apiece and have accumulated the same number of points (28).

The tax collectors are above in the 5th position, a slot better than Bright Stars because of a one goal difference.
