2016 UMEA Muslim Schools’ Solidarity Games:

  • 24th – 28th March 2016 – At Masaka S.S

At least 75 schools are expected at the 2016 UMEA Muslim schools solidarity games that will be hosted by Masaka Secondary school during the Easter weekend.

The chairperson of the games sports committee, Hajji Twahil Kiteezala confirmed the numbers at a press conference held on Tuesday morning at which Crown Beverages Limited under the Pepsi flagship brand offered Ug.shs 5 M towards the smooth running of the games.

We have 75 schools targeted. So far, 47 of them have confirmed participation, 22 of these are from the Masaka sub region

Pepsi Brand Executive, Tracy Kakuru promised continued supports and cordinal working relations with the organisers

We are delighted and proud to be associating with the UMEA Games for the second year running, we shall remain loyal to the cause

The package is in cash, 150 crates of soda, public address system and tents.

 The UMEA Games’ philosophy is ‘celebrating God’s favour unto humanity’

At the same event, Kibuli S.S head master, Hajji Ali Mugagga Kasule gave a detailed recount of the games that started way back in 1998.

‘Come and support the UMEA Games. I thank the press for the continued coverage. I appeal to all stake holders to join hands and have a successful event’ he said.

Masaka S.S is set to host this year’s championship that will have netball, volleyball and football.

For the first time in the history of the games, women football will be played.

These include among others the host school, Masaka S.S, Mawogola High, Sseke S.S, Nakatete S.S, Kibenge High, Kikungwe S.S, Kadugala S.S, BK Memorial, Kibale S.S, Bwala S.S, Waggwa Memorial, Lukaya, Lutengo, Masaka Islamic Central among others.

In a related development, unlike the previous editions, distant up-country schools from as far as Kasese and Yumbe are expressed interest.

Kibuli S.S is the overall defending champion.
