Maroons vs. Vipers – Luzira Prisons Grounds, 4:30pm

Maroons will look to build on their morale boosting win over Simba when they welcome Vipers to Luzira Prisons Ground on Tuesday, March 22.

Maroons have endured a miserable campaign in the league as they have managed just two wins, their recent coming last Friday.

The club’s problems this season have emanated from their back line. The vulnerability of their defence has seen them concede 24 goals in the league, and albeit joint with SCVU and Soana, only Lweza has conceded more (27).

They come up against one of the most offensive sides in the league. Only URA (30), KCCA (27), and Express (26) have scored more than the defending champion’s 24.

The prisoners have also had issues on the other end of the pitch, being the league’s lowest scoring team.

They have scored a mere 9 goals, Patrick Kaddu the lead striker managing just two.

Head coach Paddy Kintu will however be determined to improve on their home form and ride on that win over Simba when they host Vipers given both their wins have come at home.

Vipers come into this game as favourites but their recent form has left a lot to be desired.

It’s somewhat a concern for the club faithful. The two time league champions have looked depleted a side, especially after the departure of their last season’s talisman, Farouk Miya who joined the Belgian side Standard Liège.

Vipers who are chasing their third league title have taken maximum points just once since the resumption of the league and lost as many.

However, on paper, they look the most likely team to take the three points when the two sides meet in Luzira.

The last meeting between these two sides ended 1-0 in favour of Vipers, and the defending champions will be aiming to acquire another three points from the bottom side as well as getting back to winning ways.
