When Rwanda and Uganda U-20 sides take to the astro turf of the Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo on Saturday evening, at stake will be who carries the advantage ahead of the April 23rd 2016 return leg in Kampala.
Kawowo Sports’ David Isabirye has keenly followed the preparations of the two countries and weighs the likely key battles that will determine the final outcome of the first leg of the CAF U-20 qualifier whose winner on aggregate will face Egypt at the next stage.
Savio Dominique Nshuti (Rwanda) Vs Umaru Mukobe (Uganda):
Umar Mukobe the young BUL FC right back faces an acid test of character when he locks horns with APR FC and Amavubi national team stylish midfielder, Savio Dominique Nshuti.
Nshuti has an enviable sweet, swift and soft left foot – delightful to the eyes of many with lethal dribbles and timely execution of crosses.
Mukobe’s task on the day will be lined towards denying the dribbling ace that first touch on the ball.
Failure for Mukobe to contain Nshuti will definitely spell doom for team Uganda.
Blaise Itangishaka (Rwanda) Vs Halid Lwaliiwa (Uganda):
Itangishaka is that orthodox striker who on his day can give you joy. The Marines FC forward at times is criticized for that heavy first touch on the ball.
Against Uganda Hippos’ Lwaliiwa, a composed frame, this will be an exciting battle.
The Ugandan skipper has already confirmed he can match big structured center forwards during Vipers CAF Champions’ duels with Nigerian champions, Enyimba.
Should Lwaliiwa maintain his calmness and defence command, Uganda’s backline will not have any need to worry.
Jean d’Amour Ngiruwonsanga (Rwanda) Vs Edrisa ‘Torres’ Lubega (Uganda):
Lubega has scored goals for fun during the Masaza and FUFA Big League competitions.
Now, it is the moment for fast paced forward to prove critics wrong when he dons the national team jersey for the second time after the CHAN 2016 prospects in Rwanda.
Against AS Muhanga’s solid defender, Jean d’Amour Ngiruwonsanga, Lubega will face a stern test to prove self and inspire team Uganda in Kigali.
Kevin Muhire (Rwanda) Vs Emmanuel Olinga (Uganda):
Most football battles are won and lost in the middle of the pack.
Both players faced off in the midfield battle during the U-17 qualifiers. Whereas Muhire, now at Rayon Sports is crafty and exciting, Olinga is that hard core midfielder that does the basics right – pass, follow with that support and man mark.
This will be a great battle.
Jean Baptiste Rugamba (Rwanda) Vs Yasin Mugume (Uganda):
Another great midfield duel. The KCCA F.C loanee to The Saints’ Mugume is as swift as a thread.
Rugamba of Vision F.C is one player that follows instructions as the bible code.
Jean Baptiste Kayiranga (Rwanda) Vs Kefa Kisala (Uganda):
When the youngsters shall be battling on the field of play, the mouth of all clashes shall be on the touchline.
Kisala has enough experience having worked with the national senior team for a long time.
The gifted former Uganda Cranes left winger now at URA F.C loves fancy football and it will not shock many to preach the same philosophy.
