Henry Lujjah’s script and journey from scratches to a professional golfer is well documented and packaged in a similar mold as that village turn boy now turned property mogul with a fleet of all sorts of the latest car models.

Lujjah has been an artesian golfer at Entebbe Golf club since 2006.

His progression has witnessed the former caddie and artesian graduate through the ranks.

Lujjah confesses his strict training regime as one of the key elements that has helped him maintain the status quo.

It has been patience and hard work to my progress in golf. Every week, I play 540 balls off the range in practice for three days. Without any of the two aspects, I would never be any where close to where I am now (professional golfer)

Born and risen in Katabi, Entebbe Division A, Lujjah was attracted to the golf course by close friends who were caddies at the time.

I joined the bandwagon and today, i have no regrets.

Since attaining full playing status, Lujjah participated in several local and regional tournaments and his fine form saw he earn a call up to the national golf team.

He won the East African Golf Challenge trophy on the home course in Entebbe (in 2014) and the All Africa title the subsequent year.

In the professional ranks, he predicts a good showing;

I am aware competition is tough under the professionals but it’s always down to preparation and belief. I know I can prepare well and play good golf for a living.

Lujjah joins the Uganda Golf Professional Association (UGPA) that now has close to 35 members.

The other latest professional golfers in Uganda include Ronald Bukenya, Abbey Bagalana, Happy Robert, Robert Oluba, Gerald Kabuye, Gideon Kagyenzi, among others.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
