Zamalek players have been reported to ridicule Nigerian midfielder Moruf Yusuf following his country’s loss to Nigeria in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Nigeria took to Egypt where club Zamalek is based, and lost one-nil to the home side, a result that sent them broken for all hopes lost.

Ramadan Sobhy’s goal meant Nigeria were out after the withdrawal of Chad that dented their hopes of making to the showpiece.

Yusuf who also plies his trade in Egypt, has since been victim of mockery after the side lost and regrets the dreadful matchday.

“My team mates at Zamalek who played for Egypt against Nigeria have been teasing me that they beat my country,” he told African Football. “It has not been funny.

“I was very disappointed the Eagles failed to beat Egypt to qualify for the Nations Cup. I was really confident we could beat them, but it was not to be.”
