2015/16 Pepsi Beach Soccer League:
Nkumba Select 6-5 St Lawrence University
The pepsi national beach soccer league approaches the final bend of the season with two more weekends of action to climax the regular season.
Nkumba Select held their nerves to rally from a four goal deficit and triumph 6-5 over St Lawrence University in one of the action packed matches.
Lanky striker Joshua Lubwama had scored four times for St Lawrence with the other coming from Mubarak Wamboya as the Rubaga institution team led 5-2 at some stage.
Then saw the defining moment of the game. Nkumba Select’s Allan Katwe was red carded for a wild tackle on Lubwama.
Roch Somoka took the matters in his own hands, scoring four goals for the comeback of the season.
The other two goals came from Allan Zirimenya who scored a brace.
A dominant Nkumba also won 6-2 over Miami Kops in the other game.
Team skipper, Douglas Muganga led by example scoring three goals with Yunus Kaddu, Faizo Muwawu and Allan Zirimenya getting the others.
Michael Kisembo and Akram Bbosa were on target for Miami Kops.
MUBS lost 4-3 to St Lawrence University, before the former recovered to thump Kampala City All Stars 7-0.
Ben Ocen scored four goals on the day, Ismail Kawawulo had two and Elvis Kasujja netted the other.
Nkumba Select head coach cum founding director, Issa Assimwe believes the victory proved his team are typical title contenders;
“We have graduated from boys to men. We are serious title contenders” Assimwe bragged.
In the other matches on the day, Kayunga Town Council humiliated Miami Kops 7-2.
Baker Buyala had the lion’s share of the goal galore with four strikes. Ibrahim Lubwama, Peter Wasswa and Yusuf Mabingo scored for Kayunga.
Arafat Kizito and Paul Seruwu, a former goalie had the consolational goals for Miami.
Buwanika Bulls also beat Kampala City All Stars 5-3.
The league resumes on 17th April 2016.
