At their maiden appearance at the African Women Club Championship in Cairo Egypt last year, Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) finished an impressive seventh position out of 24 teams.

The teams that was winning titles left, right and centre from 2014 coming into 2015 locally managed to defend the National Club’s Championship and in the process UVF nominated them to represent Uganda again at the 2016 continental showdown.

But on Tuesday, the Namboole based side issued a press release announcing their failure to represent Uganda alongside Ndejje Elites who won the national league title.

Part of the statement read;

The abrupt postponement of the championship from Kenya to Tunisia caused a big difference in the budget and this highly affected the planning process. The administration of the club has tried all it could to raise $35,000 to make the trip but in vain

VVC’s preparations have not been the best either, from the time they failed to defend the league title last year at the expense of Ndejje Elites.

Middle blockers Dorcus Nyandiro, Joan Nabuuto and Zaina Kagoya are all not consistent with training for one or another, new signing Jackie Achieng, got a Job and she can’t make the trip according to Nsubuga.

Receiver attacker Prossy Alabo has also been inconsistent at training because of work and family commitments, while setter Shamim Makongoro has also been spending more time upcountry than training.

VVC finished seventh at their maiden appearance last year in Egypt, the best position any Ugandan club at the games has managed to attain.
