Proline 4-1 Entebbe
Rwenzori Group FUFA Big League side, Proline Football Club could become the first side to be promoted to the Uganda Premier League this term if they earn a point in their next fixture against Masaka based Synergy on Saturday.
The positive development follows their 4-1 victory against Entebbe F.C at the Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole on Tuesday.
Lanky and burly forward, Fahad Bayo, a student at Kibuli S.S scored two goals in the first opening 45 minutes before completing his hat-trick with a late second half penalty.
Bayo scored the first just after 120 seconds after kickoff and the second, a 38th minute simple tap-in following a text book move that involved Simon Mbaziira, Joseph Mandela and Edrisa Lubega who squared the final ball in the path of an unmarked Bayo.
Entebbe themselves were a hard nut throughout the game with good command of the midfield from Henry ‘Rasta’ Kawuma, diminutive forward Abram Ndugwa and Ddumba Sadala.
In the second half, it was Entebbe with the lion’s share of ball possession and clear cut goal scoring opportunities.
Ndugwa was foiled on a one against one incident by goalie Keni Saidi, Sadala missed narrowly from a free-kick before Proline’s Ibrahim Sendi powerfully headed home the third from team captain, Simon ‘Monie’ Mbaziira’s curling corner from the right.
Bayo completed his hat-trick with a calm finish after sending the goalie Paul Sseruwu the wrong way from a penalty spot after Sande Mukiibi had handled the ball in the forbidden area.
Second half substitute, Richard Kalema scored a late 89th consolation off a deflected shot for the visitors.
Proline now has 50 points with two games at hand.
Each of the two groups (Elgon and Rwenzori) qualifies one team directly to the elite league with the third club determined via a promotional playoff.
