Since 1957 when Express Football Club was founded, the club has grown from strength to strength winning six league titles and 10 Uganda Cup crowns along the way.
The Wankulukuku based club is christened ‘Mukwano Gwa Bangi’ literally translated ‘Friend of many’ for one bold reason the club is popular.
On Wednesday, the club launched the “Express At 60” campaign one intended to celebrate the club’s existence.
Express F.C team manager, Abdul Kinobe confirms to Kawowo Sports about the upcoming fete;
We plan a mega celebration next season to celebrate 60 years of existence.
Last season in July, Sports Club Villa Jogoo celebrated 40 years with a big function held at Hotel Africana in Kampala, an event that was attended by president Museveni.
Express’ campaign was officially launched on Tuesday evening at Muteesa II Memorial Stadium before the 1-0 victory over The Saints FC.
Former Kampala woman MP aspirant, Nakiwala Kiyingi launched the campaign to the fans that will see the Red Eagles celebrate during the 2016/2017 season.
As quoted by bigeye.com, Kiyingi said;
I would like to inform our dear fans that Express FC will be celebrating 60 years since it was founded. I promise that you will see the club reach greater heights and play with some of the biggest clubs across the continent
Express was founded in 1957 by the late Jolly Joe Kiwanuka with the Sabasajja Kabaka Mutesa II number one supporter.
