A few years ago, Pirates Rugby Club was always envisaged the potential team to break the dominance of the two local rugby giants – Heathens and the champions Kobs.
Perhaps, near misses punctuated by a series of unconvincing displays at times has been the norm at the club.
Pirates senior club player, Tobias Ssenkima associates the failure to stamp authority to inconsistent results and performances on the playing arena.
Sometimes, we play so well in one game but another we switch off completely in the other. We need consistence for better results and challenges
Pirates finished third with 52 points, a massive 25 points behind the league winners Kobs who finished the season with 77 points.
Heathens who defeated Kobs on the last day of the season took the second slot.
Ssenkima, one of the heaviest players in the domestic league at 110 kg has called upon his charges to raise the bar in the subsequent tournaments.
“We can win the league with the right attitude, training and commitment. Let us get back to the drawing board as we look towards the Uganda Cup and 7’s tournaments”.
Pirates lost 10-9 to Entebbe Sadolin Mongers in their game of the season played at Entebbe S.S sports field, a ground christened as the ‘House of Pain’.
