Police in Entebbe Municipality has arrested Express Football Club head coach, Alex Gitta Mulibanga, Kawowo Sports reliably reports.
Gitta’s arrest follows defiance to police orders to hold illegal political rallies in the municipality.
Entebbe Police CID officer, Joseph Sentamu confirmed Gitta’s arrest alongside nine other Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) supporters who had converged at the party Entebbe offices in Lugonjo-Kiwafu, Entebbe Division B ward.
Sentamu told Kawowo Sports;
We arrested Gitta, a ring leader and his FDC disciples because we do not want to incite the public over simple matters. He is doing things he well knows are against the law.
Gitta, a former right back who also occasionally played as libero recently lost in the parliamentary elections for the Entebbe Municipality seat after NRM’s Rose Mary Tumusiime came top ahead of 12 other contestants to replace Democratic Party’s Muhammed Kawuma.
Gitta has in the recent past been divided between balancing party responsibilities in the largely opposition area of Entebbe with training and match regimes at Express F.C.
At most times, Wasswa Bbosa has ably filled the void to perfection when Gitta is absent.
The former player who featured for Entebbe S.S, Masaka based Kiswera S.S, Ruhinda F.C and Entebbe Victoria F.C s among the few CAF A certified coaches in the CECAFA region.
Besides his coaching job at Express F.C, Gitta is also law clerk in one of Kampala’s renown law firms and a scout.
