Saturday, 14th May 2016 has been a dramatic, tension packed but thrilling final day of the FUFA Big league regular season.

Two clubs – Kirinya-Jinja S.S and Onduparaka have been directly promoted to the elite tier (Azam Uganda Premier league).

On the day, Kirinya-Jinja S.S rallied from a goal down to defeat Wandegeya 3-2 at a slippery Kanyanya play ground that followed the earlier rains in the day.

Missing the services of play maker, Mark Bamukyaaye, the Jinja school based side took the lead through James ‘Demba’ Otim before Shafiq Mulangira equalized for the home side.

Mulangira tapped home his 10th goal of the campaign on the stroke of half time as the first 45 minutes ended in favour of Wandegeya 2-1.

Jinja S.S equalized through Otim before maraunding right back, Allan Drajuwa beat the offside trap to fire in the roof of the net the winning goal.

Meanwhile, Proline succumbed to a late equalizer in Fort Portal to Kasese New Villa as the tie ended one all in a rain laden fixture.

The two results mean that the Jinja S.S tops the Rwenzori Group with 52 points as Proline ends on 51 points.

Kirinya-Jinja S.S thus becomes the fourth club from Jinja to join the premier division (after Jinja Municipal Council Hippos, BUL and Sadolin Paints).

In the Elgon Group, Arua’s Onduparaka walloped Lira’s Sporting United 3-0 to book a berth to the top division league.

Rashid Agau, Muhammed Shaban and Wahabu Gaddaffi’ second half penalty gave them the much deserved victory.

In the other results, Baza Holdings edged the home side, Boma Young 1-0 at the Boma play ground in Hoima Municipality.

The result saved them from relegation to the regional league since they acquired the crucial three points that put them on 22 points, above Lira United (20 points).

Paidha Black Angels won 2-0 over Water football club at the Bar Okoro play ground in Zombo but the result was not good enough to get them above Ndejje University who defeated Artland Katale 2-1 in Luwero.

This means, Ndejje University will join Sporting United at the play-off stage from the Elgon group.

Masavu who won their last day match at the Katabi home 3-2 to Hope Doves will join Proline from the Rwenzori group.

The play– off venue has been already confirmed by the FUFA Competitions department as the KCCA stadium, Lugogo, with the dates – 18th (semi-finals) and 21st May 2016 (main finals).

Eight clubs have been relegated to the respective regional leagues.

Kira Young, Bukedea Town Council, CRO and Lira United  have gone down from the Elgon Group.

The Rwenzori group relegated clubs are Masaka Local Council, Citizen, Kasese New Villa and Wandegeya.
