Lugazi edges UPDF 1-0 in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe on Wednesday evening.
The game started on a slow note as both sides struggled to find the right rhythm in front of a small crowd.
Richard Ayiko broke the deadlock in the 15th minute, nodding home Abdul Kalanzi’s corner to give the home crowd a reason to celebrate.
Ten minutes later, Ayiko got on the end of a floated ball into the box, but he was flagged offside before he could complete a formal brace.
UPDF tried to respond but failed to find a way back, and the two sides went into the dressing room with the host holding on to a slim 1-0 lead.
In the second half, both sides made changes to their squads, but it hardly changed the game’s result.
A victory sends Lugazi to the 10th position with 18 points while UPDF lie 15th with 12 points after playing 17 games.
