After their dismal performance in an 85-57 hammering by five time champions Power, Pemba Warriors have learned some lessons and head coach Sam Obol is optimistic the side will be back to winning ways sooner than later.
“It is a good lesson and now the boys know we have work to do,” Obol told Kawowo Sports after the game on Friday night.
Warriors stopped playing in the first half and were heavily punished by the 2011 champions. “Our fitness levels are still low and the boys have to wake up, it is not going to be easy,” he added.
Warriors won their opening fixture of the season when they defeated Star times Falcons and Obol believes even in the Falcons game, his players switched off along the way.
“We could have easily lost to Falcons in our first game because we failed to concentrate in the final part of the game,”
Tasked to comment about Nigerian addition Ahmed Temitope’s performance so far, Obol believes it is quite a good lesson for the center and expects more from him.
“He now knows that it is very physical and he has to fight hard but I know he will adapt and play well,”
Guard Mark Opio believes the team can do much better if everyone puts in effort in training. Warriors’ next game will see them face off with Ndejje University Angels and losing will not be an option.
