Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) competitions boss, Ali Mwebe confirmed the venue and date of the eagerly awaited 2015/16 Big League playoffs.

The playoffs will be held at Nakivubo stadium on Thursday, 19th May 2016 and Sunday, 22nd May 2016 for the third place and finals.

Mwebe said in a statement;

Nakivubo Stadium will host the playoffs this Thursday with the climax on Sunday.

Proline plays Ndejje University Sporting United in the second game on Thursday after Masavu’s game with Lira based Sporting United.

The successful club after their third place game will join Onduparaka and Kirinya S.S as the three clubs promoted to the Uganda Premier League.

Initially, the playoffs had been scheduled to take place at KCCA Stadium, Lugogo but the unavailability of the facility prompted the  FUFA Competitions department to change the venue to Nakivubo stadium in the heart of Kampala City.

Last Saturday, Kirinya-Jinja S.S and Onduparaka were directly promoted to the Premier League after the climax of the FUFA Big League regular season.

Kirinya-Jinja S.S came from a goal down to beat Wandegeya 3-2 at Kanyanya play ground as Proline faltered at Kasese New Villa in Fort portal to a one all draw.

James ‘Demba’ Otim put Jinja ahead in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Shafiq Mulangira then netted a brace as Wandegeya led  2-1 by the half time whistle. Jinja S.S equalized through Otim before right back, Allan Drajuwa got the winning goal.

Meanwhile, Proline succumbed to a late equalizer in Fort Portal to Kasese New Villa as the tie ended one all in a rain laden fixture. Fahad Bayo gave Proline the lead after 30 minutes but they succumbed to a late Joseph Sunday goal in the rains at the Buhinga play ground in Fort Portal.

In the Elgon Group, Arua’s Onduparaka walloped Lira’s Sporting United 3-0 to book a berth to the top division league. Rashid Agau, Muhammed Shaban and Wahabu Gaddaffi’ second half penalty gave them the much deserved victory.

Eight clubs were relegated to the respective Regional Leagues.

Kira Young, Bukedea Town Council, CRO and Lira United went down from the Elgon Group while in the Rwenzori Group, Masaka Local Council, Citizen, Kasese New Villa and Wandegeya were relegated.
