Uganda Cranes’ midfielder Aucho Khalid scored the opener as Kenya Premier League (KPL) Champions Gor Mahia scored two past bottom placed Sofapaka on Wednesday evening.
Captain Musa Mohamed scored the other at 35 minutes to complete the massacre as Gor Mahia went join top with Tusker FC on 29 points.
It was Aucho’s first goal for Gor Mahia and a second by a Ugandan in Gor colors this season after Geoffrey Walusimbi scored in the 2-0 win over Mathare United.
Both Walusimbi and Aucho played 90 minutes in Gor Mahia’s sixth straight win of the season since losing 1-0 to Tusker 1-0, that is the last time Gor conceded a goal.
The Paul Nkata coached Tusker drew 2-2 with sixth placed AFC Leopards as the first round came to an end, Alfred Wekesa gave AFC Leopards the lead after 45 minutes before Shafik Batambuzze equalized for Tusker.
Tony Ekaliana Ndolo thought he had won the game for Tusker at 90 minutes but Allan Kateregga equalized in added time to save Leopards from anthoer embarrassment. Leopards have gone seven games without a win, picking three draws and losing four times.
Gor Mahia and Tusker are tied on 29 points but because of a better goal difference, which is 12 compared to Tusker’s seven, Gor will go into the break at the summit of the 16 team log.
Both sides have won eight, drawn five and lost two, Tusker has scored 22 goals compared to Gor’s 18, the former has conceded 15 compared to the latter’s 6.
